It’s Time to Drink Some Funkin’ Beer

by theelvee_w2oe3m

According to a WFMZ report, earlier this week Funk Brewing Company received its approval to operate as a brewpub, allowing them to begin serving pints to drink at the brewery.  The lengthy process for Funk to gain brewpub status was a result of the Emmaus borough council needing to pass an ordinance changing their zoning laws, which occurred in early September.

Due to the insanity of PLCB regulations, the brewery has been open since June, but was only allowed to serve samples and sell growlers to go.  The brewpub designation will require them to serve food, which Funk says will come in the form of personal pizzas.  Seats at the bar, as well as tables in the brewery, will be added soon.

Funk is currently only open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, but will eventually expand their hours to be open later on the weekends and operate on Wednesdays and Thursdays.  In addition to their regular line-up of beers, Funk has been offering one-off casks on Friday nights with specialties like a dry hopped golden ale, saison with basil and lime, and a maple oat cream ale.  They’ve also been releasing some seasonal and limited beers, such as their Falliage fall chai saison and their new oak-aged farmhouse porter.  Funk told us during a recent visit that their next release may be a barrel-aged imperial red ale.  And all of them will be much tastier now that they can be enjoyed in pints.
