Mod Pizza to Open on Airport Road

Mod Pizza, a Seattle-based pizzeria chain, is opening in the Airport Point shopping center on Airport Road in Allentown.  Mod’s menu offers a variety of specialty pizzas, like the Lucy Sunshine, which features mozzarella, parmesan, artichokes, garlic, and red sauce.  You can also build your own pie and the menu offers side salads and dessert pies and sides, such as a blackberry sweet tart pizza and garlic strip pies.

The first Mod store opened in 2008 and has since grown to 30 locations.  In addition to the Allentown store, Mods will be opening in Willow Grove, Wayne, Marlton (NJ), and Glen Mills.  They are also expanding to Washington D.C., Sacramento, and Charlotte.  The booming fast-casual market has allowed Mod to fundraise $15 million which will go toward opening up to 70 more stores by the end of the year.  The company, whose team is filled with current and ex-Starbucks executives, said to “think of a Chipotle, but for pizza.”  Appropriate, considering a Chipotle opened up in the same shopping center late last year.
