The Youngers – performing from 12pm to 1:30pm at Liederplatz
This simple, rock-driven alt country from Berks Counrt is no-frills but drew me in for some reason.
Supermac – performing from 3pm to 3:30pm at Plaza Tropical
We haven’t heard of these guys before, but this is Bethlehem garage rock at its finest. This performance is taking place at the new Lagerplatz, so this will likely be a stripped down version of their music.
The Fontaines – performing from 3pm to 5pm at Main Street
Their sultry single “Two Bodies” immediately drew me in with its slow vocals, catchy hook, and odd guitar line.
The Accidentals – performing from 9pm to 11pm at Liederplatz
We caught this Michigan-based trio last year on the most ungodly hot day, and we’re glad to see they’re coming back. The string-fronted band sounded great and they were energetic on stage, even throwing in some Andrew Bird and Pixies covers.
South Side
Del Water Gap – performing from 4pm to 5pm at the TD Community Stage
The National Parks – performing from 5pm to 7pm at Americaplatz
This vocally-driven Americana and alt-folk band was on our radar last year but we unfortunately missed their sets. If you’re into The Lumineers or The Strumbellas they’re worth a listen.
Low Cut Connie – performing from 9:30pm to 11pm at Americaplatz
Perhaps one of our favorite performers this year, these guys killed opening night last year with their Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash sound and played a burner of a set at the Levitt Pavilion earlier this summer. If there’s one band to see this fest, it’s probably these guys.
