Everyone is losing their marbles over the fact that the PLCB is delisting a whole bunch of liquor. Listen, I’m not a big fan of the PLCB but this is being blown WAY out of proportion here. The Morning Call states: “Say goodbye to Grey Goose Vodka L’Orange.” WRONG.
A lot of what is being delisted is bigger or weird bottle sizes. Take that particular example, Grey Goose L’Orange. The PLCB is delisting the 1L size bottle, however the (normal) 750ml size will still be in stock. The Morning Call and certain unsavvy consumers are making this a much bigger deal than it actually is. A friend who is a Maker’s Mark fan IMed me in a panic because a friend told him Maker’s Mark is on the list to be axed. The Maker’s Mark 50ml tiny bottles are being discontinued, nothing else.
For the things in regular sized bottles that are getting delsited? They deserve to be. Most of them are swill and things that don’t sell now and may not even when the prices are chopped. So everyone, calm the hell down and have a drink.
