Musikfest Picks Day 5, August 7th

North Side
River Lynch and the Spiritmakers – An easygoing and great retro sound, this Rochester-based group bills themselves as a cross between Alabama Shakes on Tom Petty. Their blues-driven sound is the perfect way to kick off your day at Fest.  They play Main Street at 3pm.

Kat Wright – Bluesy and jazzy, Kat Wright channels her inner Amy Winehouse for soulful, excellent music.  I Caught the tail end of her set last night at Americaplatz and she sounded great. You can catch her again tonight at Volksplatz at 5pm.

Down North – I caught these guys back in 2015 at Liederplatz and they absolutely killed it.  They had soul, funk, and a hell of a lot of energy.  Lead singer Anthony Briscoe was off the stage, in the crowd singing.  Don’t miss it.  They play Volksplatz at 7pm.

South Side
Marc Broussard – He describes himself as “Bayou Soul” and I think that’s a pretty accurate representation.  His music has Delta inspirations with elements of rock, blues, and R&B mixed in.  He’s gained a following and had commercial success, particularly with his 2014 LP A Life Worth Living.  You can catch him at Americaplatz at 9pm.
