Tutlie – performing 4pm to 5pm at the TD Community Stage on Air Products Town Square
In one of their songs a gentle xylophone plays over delicate vocals and others invoke samples of the President’s voice. In songs that span the gamut from whimsical baroque pop to new indie sound, these guys have quite a diverse sound.
The Moondogs – performing 5pm to 6:30pm at Volksplatz
This retro-sounding Brazilian band at times sounds like they could be inspired by 50s rock and at others sound like cousins of The Beatles.
MarchFourth Marching Band – performing 7:30pm to 9pm at Americaplatz at the Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks
This is your last chance to see MarchFourth Marching band this year. A favorite of ours, these guys wowed us with their first performance at Musikfest back in 2011 and we’re glad to see them continuously booked. The last performance we caught by them seemed a little lacking in the theatrics we came to expect from them, but based on videos we’ve seen of last night’s performance, it looks like they’re back to their old (and impressive) tricks again. Like a marching band and Burning Man had a baby, these guys are an act you don’t want to miss.
Here Come the Mummies – performing 9:30pm to 11pm at Americaplatz at the Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks
If you only see one show at Musikfest, make this it. This band is immensely fun. They are filthy (for instance, lyrics like “take the skin boat to tuna town” and “wearing out the sideways frown”). They sing a song called Libido Knievel. They have a pelvic thrust-driven instrument called the cow belt. They are amazing, and you’re an idiot if you miss this.
