Liberty Street Tavern, a great local craft beer establishment, is having a really tasty event tomorrow. For $10 you’ll be able to get five different Ballast Point samples ranging from 4-5.5ozs. This is one awesome brewery and one of my favorite beers from them, Victory at Sea, will be on tap. Unfortunately their lauded Sculpin IPA won’t be making an appearance, but the rest of the brews are still fantastic. Check out the listing below, complete with descriptions of each from Liberty St’s newsletter:
Victory at Sea Imperial Coffee Vanilla Porter – 10% abv – – An amazing rarity from Ballast Point. 100 on Rate Beer, A on Beer Advocate.
Sextant Oatmeal Stout – 6.8% – A dry stout with fresh brewed Cafe Calabria coffee. The flaked barley and oats serve to round out the body a little without the malty sweetness. 91 on Rate Beer, B+ on Beer Advocate
Barrel Aged Piper Down Scotch Ale – 5.7% – Scottish ale aged 5 months in two separate bourbon barrels of Heaven Hill & Old Fitzgerald. Blended and cold aged an additional 6 months. 2010 World Beer Cup Gold Medal Winner. 93 on Rate Beer, A- on Beer Advocate
Dorado Double IPA – 9.6% -Hopheads rejoice! Dorado Double IPA takes hops to a new level. Mash Hopping, First Wort Hopping, Kettle Hopping, and Dry Hopping create an award winning beer that embodies San Diego’s reputation for making world class. 99 rating on Rate Beer, A- on Beer Advocate.
Big Eye IPA – 6% – Brewed with four malts for a deep golden color and to lend a malty counterpoint to the hops. Its full hop flavor is guaranteed to please the palate of the true hop head. 98 on Rate Beer, A- on Beer Advocate.
