Artsquest announced today that rock band Jane’s Addiction will be headlining Musikfest on August 9th, rounding out the festival’s ten main stage bands.
The band, fronted by Perry Farrell, has had a tumultuous past. After achieving initial national success in 1998 with their album Nothing’s Shocking (which includes the alt-rock radio staple Jane Says), they went on to hit the top of the US Alt charts with their follow-up album singles Stop and Been Caught Stealing. They broke up in 1991 following drug addictions and fights that plagued the band.
A reunion in 1997 was brief and the band stayed dormant until recording another album in 2001. A single, Just Because, from the album landed them at number 72 on the Billboard charts. The band then split again and didn’t reform again until 2008. They released their album The Great Escape Artist in October of last year and are currently on the road.
Tickets go on sale May 11th at 10am and are $34 and $49.
