It’s been a while since we’ve gotten a truly exciting concert announcement in the Lehigh Valley, but Artsquest delivered just that today with the first act of their 2015 Yuengling Summer Concert Series: Cake. The show will take place on Sunday, July 12th.
The outdoor concert series, which takes place at the Levitt Pavilion at Steelstacks in Bethlehem, began last year and featured Modest Mouse, Tegan & Sara, and Third Eye Blind. The Modest Mouse show proved to be hugely popular and sold out quickly, while the crowd for Tegan & Sara was sparse and Third Eye Blind drew almost 2,500.
Cake, who have played The Mann Center, the Keswick Theatre, and Festival Pier in Philadelphia in the past few years, are best known for hits like “Short Skirt/Long Jacket”, “The Distance,” and “Never There.” In a press release, Artsquest Senior VP of Programming Patrick Brogan said, “CAKE is a group that’s known for its driving sound and amazing live sets. We’ve been looking for an opportunity to bring the band to SteelStacks for the past several years, so we’re thrilled to be able to present them as part of this year’s Yuengling Summer Concert Series.”
This is an awesome snag for the concert series. Although the show is booked much later than last year’s kick-off (Modest Mouse performed in May), we hope to see more great acts like this, especially outdoors.
Tickets for the show are $39 for general admission and go on sale to the public at 10am on February 13th.
