Last night Musikfest announced that Young the Giant, an up-and-coming rock band, will be headlining the festival on August 3rd. The band first’s self-titled debut album garnered them two hits with their songs My Body and Cough Syrup. They’ll be joined by indie rockers Portugal. The Man and White Rabbits. Tickets are $24 and $34 and go on sale April 13th. This marks the second indie-style act that Artsquest has brought in this year (the other being MGMT), obviously looking to diversify their shows more and answer to the yearly calls for more relevant bands. It’s a welcome change.
Rocker Meat Loaf will be bringing his “Mad, Mad, World” tour to the Sands Event Center on July 25th. On the tour he will be backed by his Neverland Express band. Meat Loaf’s 1993 single I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That) garnered his only number one single across 11 studio albums and a dizzying amount of platinum records. Ticket information is not yet available for the show.
